Reb Zusya, an early Hassidic rabbi, is known to have said:
“In the world to come, I shall not be asked, ‘Why were you not Moses?’
I shall instead be asked,
‘Why were you not Zusya?”
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. Seuss
You are special. Be you.
- Yes, it’s risky (you will be judged)
- Yes, it takes courage (you know you’re not perfect)
- Yes, you’re exposed (because you are different)
- Yes, it’s threatening (you have your opinions)
- Yes, it’s embarrassing (you have your style)
- Yes, it’s scary (you will be liberated)
- Yes, it’s stressful (you will change things)
- Yes, it’s __________ (because ____________) (Hit the “leave a reply” link below!)
But, really; isn’t all that just a walk in the park compared to having to answer the question that Zusya imagines having to answer?
Why were you not you?
What say you?
Yes, it’s great, because you finally love you!
YES! It’s about time you joined the party! 🙂
I didn’t have anything to add b4.
Okay, that be fine … but there’s another meaning to my reply to you. In reply to your “yes, it’s great, because you finally love you!” my “it’s about time you joined the party” … of everyone else that loves you! Ha!
I was just finishing the line. I wasn’t referring to myself. But thank u 4 the love. I love u 2!
John, I really enjoy this blog! Your insight always makes me pause and consider what you wrote…Kathy has caught me a couple of times just staring at the screen, deep in thought.
And as for answering this post…I think that sometimes I need to turn my “you” down a bit! 🙂 Sometimes.
Hey Pete! Very glad to hear you are liking! I am enjoying the production …
You are one of the smartest guys I have had the privilege to know. I’m serious. So not sure the world’s a better place if you turn “you” down a bit … but you know you better than anyone!
Very good to see you here …
