Dream not too much of what you’ll do tomorrow,
How well you’ll work perhaps another year;
Tomorrow’s chance you do not need to borrow–
Today is here.
Boast not too much of mountains you will master,
The while you linger in the vale below,
To dream is well, but plodding brings us faster
To where we go.
Talk not too much about some new endeavor
You mean to make a little later on.
Who idles now will idle on forever
Till life is gone.
Swear not some day to break some habit’s fetter,
When this old year is dead and passed away;
If you have need of living, wiser, better
Begin today!

I really like this, especially the part about plodding versus dreaming.
To dream is well, but plodding brings us faster
To where we go.
Hey! That’s exactly the phrase that I find most compelling as well!
What a beautiful sentiment for this time of year! Happy new year, my friend!
Yes indeed; and new year wishes right back at you Amanda!
My reply isn’t exactly in line with the message here (live for the moment) but procrastination is something I plan to work on next week. About the middle of December I put off reading one of your updates. When you religiously posted your next update I put it off as well because now I would need to spend twice as much time reading two posts. Jump forward three weeks and I just spent an hour reading your last eight.
I hope you have a great 2013 John! Thank you.
Paul, geez, are you a comedy writer, or what! Ha!
Sorry about that hour of your life. Much more palatable to read ’em as they come … 🙂
I hope you have a great 2013 as well … all the Best!
